United Property Associates (UPA) was founded in 1978 in response to the need for quality property management in Hampton Roads for apartment communities, homeowner and condominium associations, and single family homes.
As UPA evolved and grew during the ensuing thirty years, staff members focused on employing and training personnel dedicated to strong and consistent property management, rather than real estate sales. The company’s goal is not only to maintain client properties with the necessary expenditure of funds but, in time, improve them. UPA maintains a high quality staff of Association and Site Managers, well trained and experienced in the complete operation of apartment communities, homeowner and condominium associations, and single family home rentals.

United Property Associates is fortunate to be one of the very few management companies with a class-A contractor and on-staff civil engineer. The knowledge of these fields is frequently very important for new communities, high-rise buildings, and older properties. These three types of properties frequently experience new construction problems not yet resolved with the developer, building system complexities, or major re-habilitation projects to be completed.
The current staffing of United Property Associates’ Virginia Beach, Richmond, Suffolk, Newport News and Williamsburg consists of a very highly regarded administration and accounting staff who serve to assist and support the site personnel as well as UPA’s clients.
Through our association with contractors and suppliers, UPA has been able to secure prices from vendors far below what most companies can obtain. Thus, UPA is able to keep the operating expenses for the properties below the level at which they customarily have operated.
We maintain accounts with vendors for the services most frequently needed, using two or more vendors for each service in order to maintain competitive prices. UPA constantly strives to update its bidding process and seeks new vendors who are able to maintain the level and quality of service we demand.
